Would you reccommend it?because even though I use firefox, my windows system is like loaded with viruses right now.but I dont wanna switch to linux because im afraid ill lose all y files if I do.

It is possible to get gparted to shrink your Windows Partition, then create a new partition for Ubuntu 7.10, after Ubuntu has been installed then you can enter into the Windows partition, it should be named something like sda1.

I have a dual boot set up as I only use XP for games, but I keep a shared directory for files such as Open Office and images so that I can work on them in both Linux and XP.

forgot to mention you can also do this to debug and manually remove trojans, viruses, and spyware inside XP.
